Overview of Medical Services

 Adult Health Clinic:

The Physician Extender offers health screenings to clients 18 years and older.  Annual physical examinations and acute care are provided.  Some conditions may require a physician's consultation and/or referral.  Services includes:

  • Acute Care
  •  Preventive Care
  •  Immunizations
    Appointments Monday through Friday
    After hours appointments - 1st and 3rd. Thursdays of each month

Child Health Clinic:

The purpose of Child Health services is to maintain good health by:

  •  Prevention of illness
  • Early detection and referral
  • Guidance

Services include:

  • Physical/Well Child Exam
  • Lab Services
  • Immunizations
  • Dental Varnish
  • Developmental Screenings
  • Vision & Hearing Screenings
  • Nutritional Consultation

Pediatric Primary Care:

The Pediatric Primary Care program provides diagnostic treatment, prevention, and follow-up services to patients from birth to 21 years old.  Clients must meet financial eligibility.  Services include:

  • Sick Visits
  • Sport Physicals

Dental Clinic:

Medicaid (depending on eligibility) and N.C. Health Choice for Children recipients can receive dental treatment at the Rockingham County Division of Health Dental Clinic. The clinic is open and accepting patients Monday through Thursday from 7:45 am-5:30 pm.  Uninsured patients can be seen on a sliding fee scale based on household income.  Accepting new patients.

Glaucoma Clinic:

First Thursday in January, April, July, and October.  Must be referred by one of the RCDPH Physician Extenders.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Services:

  • Screenings for STI
  • Treatment offered Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Counseling for prevention of STIs
  • HIV testing and counseling available
  • Clients seen by appointment
  • Symptomatic clients seen within 24 hours

TB Clinic:

If you have questions about a TB test or need more information, call (336) 342-8140.  No appointment necessary.

Women's Preventive Health Clinic:

  • Family Planning, Breast/Cervical Cancer Screening, Preventive Care
  • Appointments Monday through Friday
  • After hours appointments - 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month

North Carolina Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP)

Pharmacy Services: 

  • Hours are Monday - Thursday. 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (except on 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the Monday:  10 am - 6:00 pm for night clinic.
  • Prescriptions at reduced charge to eligible health department patients
  • Medicines to treat tuberculosis (TB) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) as well as birth control methods and child health 
  • A clinical pharmacist is available by appointment for medication management reviews
  • Some medications may not be available
